We are in Edinburgh today for the launch of Verture’s new 2026-2031 strategy, ‘Just Resilience.’

It has been a great opportunity to catch up with existing contacts and meet new people working to support a more climate resilient Scotland. It has also been rewarding to hear about how people are engaging with our recently released Highland Climate Change Risk & Opportunity Assessment (HCCROA), even beyond the Highland region.

One of the central elements of Verture’s new strategy is commitment to strong partnerships delivering change. Through Highland Adapts and the other regional adaptation partnerships Verture is a part of in Scotland, Verture has acted as a convenor and connector for many years. The new strategy signals a continuation and strengthening of this work at local, regional, and national scales.

Importantly, the strategy is clear that: “Partnerships must now shift from planning to delivery – moving beyond coordination to driving tangible action on the ground. People need to begin to see the reality of a more climate resilient country.”

This is an ambition which Highland Adapts shares. It sets an expectation for visible, practical progress in the years ahead, as we collectively move from strategy and assessment into implementation.
