Highland Adapts is pleased to announce the appointment of an Advisory Panel to help turn our climate risk assessment into action.
The Advisory Panel brings together expertise from across the public, private, third and community sectors to help shape and deliver the work of Highland Adapts.
The panel has been established following the publication of the Highland Climate Change Risk & Opportunity Assessment (HCCROA) in March, which highlighted the urgent and interconnected threats that climate change poses to Highland communities, businesses, infrastructure and the natural environment. This includes increasing drought, flooding, wildfires, and overheating.
The Advisory Panel not only reflects the breadth of the challenge identified through the HCCROA but also demonstrates Highland’s commitment to place-based collaboration, and to resilience, prosperity and health for people and the environment.
In the first instance, a sub-group of the Advisory Panel is piloting a limited programme of direct support to organisations, businesses, and groups. This support is designed for anyone in Highland who wants to incorporate climate change resilience into a strategic document like a policy, plan, or strategy. The aim is for these documents to act as catalysts for climate change resilience across the region. If you would like support, click here to learn more. The application deadline is Tuesday 8 September.
