When our climate changes, we need to adjust. This could include making changes to our buildings, so they stay cool during hot summers or become less at risk of being flooded.
Adapting to climate change has two aspects:
- Adapting to present climate and weather
- Making changes based on future projected changes in the climate
Adaptation is an ongoing process. There will be considerable local variations and there is no final ‘adapted state’.
